Article: HARVEST POW WOW TO GIVE TASTE OF NATIVE AMERICAN LIFE

Mokena village leaders held a pow wow with members of Midwest Soarring (Save Our Ancestors Remains and Resources Indigenous Network Group) recently in hopes of making the fourth annual Harvest Pow Wow on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20, the best cultural effort yet. Soarring has held its pow wow at Immanuel Lutheran Church grounds on LaPorte Road since the event began, although the church points out that there's no religious connotation or approval connected to allowing the group to use the property.
