Article: CAUSING A CHAIN REACTION

Stephanie Hoover didn't realize the choices she makes now as a teen-ager can impact her plans for motherhood years down the road. "I never thought about it, but you have to start planning now," said Stephanie, a junior at Neuqua Valley High School.

Stephanie is eating a lot more broccoli these days because the leafy green vegetable is high in folic acid, a form of vitamin B that promotes cell reproduction.

"All women of child-bearing age should take it, even men," Stephanie said. "If you're eating just chips, you're not going to get all you need."

A volunteer walk she took part in this spring with the Neuqua Valley student council marked the beginning of her growing awareness.
