The Vernon Hills Police Department is joining forces with thousands of law enforcement agencies nationwide to commemorate two upcoming traffic safety campaigns, and they are collaborating with several area businesses to promote the cause locally.
May 24 to 31 is Buckle Up America Week and Operation ABC Mobilization: America Buckles Up Children.
Both of these campaigns are designed to heighten awareness of the importance of seat-belt and child-safety-seat use and increase occupant restraint usage rates.
The efforts include not only the strict enforcement of these laws, but also continued education.
