With the rising cost of postage, you'd think some retailers who rely on saturating the countryside with pamphlets, brochures and catalogs would be feeling the sting in their pocketbooks. Instead, each day brings a new barrage of junk mail to my mailbox.

It leads me to wonder why junk mail never seems to get lost in the mail.

Heaven forbid a person ever completes a questionnaire or responds to a survey.

Immediately, you're placed on the list of "people who have too much time on their hands and need to spend a few hours each week reading mail" for products you have no intention of buying.
