The Jacobs High School football team's offense has been the main reason for the Golden Eagles' success this season, But it was the defense that stepped up in Crystal Lake on Friday. The Golden Eagles held Crystal Lake South to 133 yards and scored three late touchdowns to pull away in Fox Valley Conference play, 32-7.

"Our defense carried us tonight, no doubt about it," Jacobs coach Dean Schlueter said.

"We had good field position all night, but they kept pushing us back.

In my opinion, we were lucky to get out of here with a win."

The Golden Eagles defense contributed in the scoring column.

Two straight sacks by defensive end Tom Werle pushed the Gators back to their 37 yard line.
