I'm so thankful for each and every dear friend in my life. Each and every one, whether they know it or not, has blessed me with their unique gifts.

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for a dear friend who gave me an exceptionally unique gift: my own tears.

My tiny pet ferret died a couple of weeks ago.

I cried.

Hard. A lot, actually.

Maybe that's stupid.

Then again, maybe it's not.

I learned something I already knew: dear friends let you cry.

Hard. A lot, actually, no matter how stupid the thing you're crying about seems.

Dear friends know that if you're crying, it's never stupid, even if it's about a tiny little ferret.

I knew her end was here.
