Article: Plano nears approval of largest development ever

PLANO -- The final hurdle for the city's largest development ever, City Acre, is near. City Plan Commission members will vote on the recommendation for zoning for the 821-acre project on Jan 18.

City Acre has been in the works for two years and will almost double the population of Plano when annexed.

The plan is divided into three parcels: a 500-acre site north of Plano, a 162-acre site northeast of Plano and a 159-acre site west of Plano.

All three are contiguous to Plano city borders.

The land is owned by a trust for the family of Lord Peter Palumbo, an English nobleman who spends a few weeks each year at the Farnsworth House in Plano, near Silver Springs State Park.
