Article: Kendall Board members say they deserve more money

YORKVILLE -- While Kendall County board members were not able to solve their redistricting dilemma Tuesday, there was one idea the majority did support. Board members should be paid more money.

Board members who attended a special Committee of the Whole meeting generally supported a recommendation to double the County Board chairman's salary, from $6,000 to $12,000 a year, and nearly triple board members' salaries, from $900 to $2,400 a year.

Meanwhile, board members would receive a per diem increase from $65 to $85 for attending meetings, but the salary of the county liquor commissioner, who is also the County Board chairman, would remain at $1,200 a year.
