JOLIET -- Help is on the way for frustrated motorists caught in a bothersome bottleneck at Caton Farm Road and Illinois 59, but relief from traffic congestion won't arrive for several months.
Widening Caton Farm Road to five lanes from two is the county's No. 1 priority highway project.
The county is currently acquiring land for the project, said John Gerl, chairman of the county board's finance committee.
"That's a challenging process.
We're dealing with 50 to 60 different property owners," Gerl said.
The county is hoping to begin the project next year, but it may not get started until 2003.
"Everything is predicated on how quickly we can get the right of way," Gerl said.
