Teacher Kathleen Woods reads to kindergarten students Monday at St. Mary Nativity Catholic School in Joliet. Next fall, preschool and kindergartners will attend school at the reopened Holy Cross Catholic School on Elizabeth Street. Holy Cross closed in 1982 due to declining enrollment. -- Holy Cross Catholic School, closed in 1982, will reopen in the fall as home to preschool and kindergarten students from St. Mary Nativity School.
JOLIET -- The pitter-patter of little feet are returning to the Holy Cross Catholic School after a 19-year absence.
