Ryan Russell, eighth-grader at Jefferson Junior High School, might be young, but his skills are in demand at the high school level. A daylong event at Naperville North High School helped eighth-grade musicians from five junior highs experience what it is like to play in a high school orchestra. -- Eighth-grade musicians in School District 203 play along with high school orchestra members at Naperville North. The groups will perform a concert later this year.

With rigid backs, orchestra students at Lincoln Junior High School played the tense, repetitive refrain on their stringed instruments.
