Article: Stitching a legacy; Teacher helps keep art of sewing alive with classes

They came bearing material, thread, trimming and, most importantly, ideas. The students were ready as was their teacher, seamstress Kathy Embry.

Colleen Filipek, 9, was the first to arrive.

She laid out her shopping bag carefully, a Harry Potter print, backing to match and batting to sandwich in between.

A wall hanging was the order of the day.
