Navy Pier offers visitors more than 50 acres of parks, promenades, shops, restaurants and live entertainment. The pier is open year-round and accessible by boat, trolley, bus, taxi and car. -- There is plenty of shopping and eating to entice those strolling down Navy Pier, and some events, such as fireworks every Wednesday and Saturday, are free. -- Vanessa Miller of Lansing, Mich., rides the carousel one last time before Navy Pier closes for the night.
