The students were silent as their instructor, Greg Mucci, quietly led them through a series of flowing t'ai chi movements at Martial Arts America in Plainfield. Their movements resembled karate, only much slower.

Some students closed their eyes, moving through the graceful routine by memory.

The quiet of the room was interrupted only by the start of some soft, meditative music.

Only Mucci did not hear it.
