Greg Mucci of Joliet teaches a t'ai chi technique to Gloria Wong of Bolingbrook at Martial Arts America in Plainfield. Mucci, who is deaf, became interested in the movements of t'ai chi to help him cope with the loss of his hearing.
The students were silent as their instructor, Greg Mucci, quietly led them through a series of flowing t'ai chi movements at Martial Arts America in Plainfield.
Their movements resembled karate, only much slower.
Some students closed their eyes, moving through the graceful routine by memory.
The quiet of the room was interrupted only by the start of some soft, meditative music.
Only Mucci did not hear it.
