Article: Vernon Hills bank robber claimed to have bomb

VERNON HILLS -- Police and the FBI are looking for a man who robbed an undetermined amount of money Wednesday afternoon from the First American Bank of Lake County after informing a teller he had a bomb in his backpack. Police responded to an alarm at the bank, 701 N. Milwaukee Ave., but the robber escaped by running west into the Olive Garden restaurant parking lot, police said.

The man entered the bank and showed a note to the teller that demanded money and warned that there was a bomb in his backpack.

No weapon was displayed and there were no injuries, police said.
