Jean Vercoe Mulligan,a long-time resident of Waukegan, died on Feb. 20, 2001 after a three-year struggle with a rare blood disorder.
Jean was born On September 8, 1918, in Wyoming, PA., and grew up in a household filled with music.
Singing and playing piano in church, as well as having informal Sunday afternoon recitals in the family's living room, were a part of her childhood that she carried into her adult life.
After graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in music education, Jean took a job as a high school music teacher in Oswego, NY. While in Oswego, Jean met and married Robert E. (Dib) Mulligan.
Jean and Dib celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on September 12, 1991.
