DUNDEE TOWNSHIP -- The first blueprint has been created for a township bike trail system that would link area municipalities and provide safe, environmentally friendly access to local amenities.
A preliminary map for the trail system, drafted by Terry Heffron of St. Charles-based Transland, shows bike paths running throughout the township that may come into existence as new developments are approved.
"It's going to take a long time to develop," said Jim Miller, director of recreation for the Dundee Township Park District.
"This is a long- term type of project."
Miller was one of several officials who excitedly reviewed copies of the bike trail maps Thursday at the Randall Oaks clubhouse.
