Carpentersville lowers property tax levy zB1 By Peter Denk STAFF WRITER CARPENTERSVILLE -- The village board has cut its property tax levy by $90,000, keeping a promise to taxpayers.

When Carpentersville set its fiscal 2001 property tax levy in December, trustees promised taxpayers a dip in the tax rate -- from this fiscal year's $1.30 for every $100 of equalized accessed value, down to $1.24 per $100.

But because there was less development than expected in Carpentersville in the last year -- and hence fewer properties to share the tax burden -- the rate would have decreased only to $1.27 per $100 of equalized accessed value.

So the village board reduced the levy by $90,000, just enough ...
