Xxxxx head: Heat succumb in 11 innings, season over FROM STAFF REPORTS body:The 18-and-under Elgin Heat softball team concluded their season Saturday after being eliminated from the American Softball Association Midwest Nationals in Elk Grove, Minn. Playing out of the losers' bracket, the Heat won their first game Saturday, 5-0, against the Kansas Shockers but lost their second game, 4-3, in 11 innings to the Homer Hawks of Lockport, Ill. The loss knocked the Heat out of the double-elimination tournament with a weekend record of 1-3, including three one-run losses.

The Heat finished their season 45-24-1, one of the program's best finishes in recent history.
