Elgin Area Chamber/Robert Carlile head: Economic Development Council gatekeeper for Challenge 21 funds body: The successful conclusion of our recent $1.9 million Challenge 21 economic development campaign goal has now become the springboard to launch the Elgin Chamber's expanded economic development program.
The five committees formed to represent each key goal or "rock" of the campaign (workforce development, business retention and expansion, image enhancement and awareness, government relations, and business recruitment) have been meeting regularly to establish their budgetary requests for the year 2001. Their requests will soon be submitted to the Economic Development Council.
