Elgin man guilty of '97 gun theft in West Dundee zB1 By Ed Bierschenk COPLEY NEWS SERVICE CHICAGO -- A federal jury Thursday found a 22-year-old Elgin man guilty of conspiracy and theft charges in connection with a scheme that involved the torching of a West Dundee realty office to divert attention from the burglary of a village gun shop.

The jury, however, found Jeremy Melton not guilty of aiding and abetting the arson at Starck Realty, 751 S. Eighth St. A juvenile member of the conspiracy allegedly set the fire in the early morning of Feb. 21, 1997.
