Jacobs 32, CL South 7 Golden Eagles' defense in complete control zB1 By Joe Pokorny SPECIAL TO THE COURIER NEWS CRYSTAL LAKE -- Jacobs High School's offense has been the main reason for the team's success this season, but Friday night it was the defense that stepped up.

The Golden Eagles held Crystal Lake South to 133 yards and scored three late touchdowns to pull away in Fox Valley Conference play, 32-7.

"Our defense carried us tonight, no doubt about it," said Jacobs coach Dean Schlueter.

"We had good field position all night, but they kept pushing us back.

In my opinion, we were lucky to get out of here with a win."

The Golden Eagles' defense contributed in the scoring column.
