Local Girl Scouts prepare to complete historic first Brownie Girl Scout Troop 853 will help make Girl Scout history on March 9, when it participates in a swimming event at the Shamrock Club in Lake in the Hills.

The six girls in Lake in the Hills Girl Scout Troop 853 are part of GirlSports 2000, a national initiative of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., which challenges troops and groups to create and stage an unbroken series of sports and fitness-related events each day of 1999.

Members of Brownie Girl Scout include Brittany Miserda-Garard, Rachael Roth, Kristin Stewart, Samantha Pavletti, Laura Summerkamp, and Amanda Palczynski.
