Elgin man caught with assault rifle pleads guilty zB1 By Gloria Carr STAFF WRITER ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP -- An Elgin man arrested in a January raid that netted cash, drugs and weapons -- including two assault rifles -- pleaded guilty Friday to a theft charge.

Geronimo Covarrubius, 25, of 920 S. Liberty St., received probation and 60 days of electronic home monitoring in a plea agreement reached with the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Covarrubius admitted he knew an SKS assault rifle he purchased for $300 had been stolen from a Rolling Meadows home.

The rifle is similar to an AK-47 assault rifle.
