Elgin suggests diversions to ease fireworks show traffic By Matt Baron STAFF WRITER ELGIN -- If patience doesn't work, then organizers of the Fourth of July fireworks show hope diversions will help spread out the heavy traffic expected for the Independence Day gathering at the Elgin Sports Complex.

So bring your board games, your creative scavenger hunt ideas or contests to see who can identify the most out-of-state license plates.

At least, that's what Jane Cordes hopes some folks choose to do rather than immediately dive into the logjam after the pyrotechnical display.
