If you haven't gotten a flu shot yet, there's still time.
The Centers for Disease Control, a federal agency, suggests that people obtain flu shots between Oct. 1 and mid-November; it takes about six weeks for the shots to offer protection.
Three area organizations, Visiting Nurse Association of the Fox Valley, Total Home Care in Elgin and the McHenry County Health Department, have been conducting flu shot clinics for adults age 18 and older, and several more are still scheduled.
The CDC recommends flu shots for people age 65 and older; for those who smoke tobacco products; for people with heart disease, diabetes and other chronic conditions as indicated by a physician; adults with ...
