Elgin residents will narrow the field of council candidates from seven to six Tuesday. The top six vote-getters will move to the April 1 general election to compete for three seats on the council.

Voters will choose between the three incumbent candidates -- Robert Gilliam, Ed Schock and John Walters -- and challengers Thomas Sandor, Frank Scimeca, Gregg Wiley and Tim Williams.

Seventeen individuals will be in contested races on the Elgin Township Republican Primary ballot.

Thirteen trustee candidates will be joined by two candidates in both the supervisor and clerk races.
