Immigrants are worth it, study shows The issue: The economic impact of immigration on U.S. society. We say: A study by a group which once proposed cutting immigration by a third says the benefits far outweight costs.

A study by the U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform -- an organization that two years ago proposed cutting legal immigration by one-third -- has concluded that immigration is generally good for the U.S. economy and has little negative effect on the income and job prospects of native-born Americans.

The findings should come as no surprise.

The whole history of the United States illustrates the value of immigrants.

But perhaps the study will give pause to those in Congress ...
