Article: Collective effort; For Fairview Village residents, Red Barn shop becomes a place of inspiration, community

Residents of the Fairview Village retirement community set up the Red Barn, a store featuring antiques, collectibles and items handmade by residents. Store volunteer Winona Kuypers, a resident at Fairview Village, knits a headband for one of her granddaughters.

The sign hanging near the entryway to the Red Barn antique store reads "Browsers welcome, buyers adored." But don't let that intimidate you. Even if you're just stopping in to have a look around the converted 19th-century barn that stands at the entrance to Fairview Village retirement community in Downers Grove, you'll feel welcome.
