JOLIET -- Several years ago, the future of Curtis Avenue Baptist Church was in question.
Membership, which once numbered in the hundreds, had dwindled into about a dozen.
Partly to blame was the fact that many of the church's original members were retiring and moving back down south.
It looked as if the doors might close before Curtis Avenue Baptist Church would see its 50th anniversary.
Then, about three years ago, Channahon's Randy Blan, now the pastor at the First Baptist Church in Channahon, stepped in, followed by Joliet's Clark Llewellyn, the church's current pastor.
