Article: Aurora looking into Elks Club renovation

AURORA -- The City Council Tuesday will consider a $70,000 plan to renovate the first floor of the former Elks Club building, which would serve as a new home for the Aurora Election Commission. The commission needs to move by Aug. 1 because of plans to renovate the Elmslie building at 1 S. Broadway, which has served as a former German-American Bank and, later, a Walgreen's.

Part of the renovation project includes work at the Election Commission office next door.

The Elmslie building will be converted into additional office space while incorporating common areas for use in both buildings, including an elevator lobby, first-floor restrooms and a western exit.
