Jeri Rakow Helgren devoted mother, loyal friend and consummate hostess died June 22, 2002 after battling lung disease.
She was born March 2, 1932 in Elgin, IL, the only daughter of Len A. and Erma K. Rakow.
She graduated from Elgin Academy in Illinois and attended University of Colorado in Boulder.
She married Norman Richard Helgren on April 19, 1952.
Jeri was a remarkable woman who could sew her children's clothes, do bodywork on the family station wagon, and write children's books, all while gardening and redecorating her home.
But, most of all, she loved being around people.
She could strike up a conversation with anyone and immediately become his or her friend.
