Article: North Aurora might put sales tax on ballot

NORTH AURORA -- Village Board members seem ready to put a proposal for a half-cent local sales tax into the hands of voters next April.

The proposed tax, which could generate an additional $363,069, would help the village afford a new village hall and police station.

Trustees will vote at Monday's Village Board meeting on whether to have Village Attorney Kevin Drendel write an ordinance putting the sales tax issue on the ballot.

"We're looking at this to help pay for additional infrastructure improvements Trustee Al Broholm said. "This sure would help, because we need new infrastructure and a city hall and police station."
