cine: The state said it will begin distributing the smallpox vaccine to public health departments around Illinois and plans to vaccinate as many as 16,000 public health and hospital workers by the end of February. Those public health and hospital emergency workers would be the first to be offered the vaccinations, according to an Illinois Department of Public Health plan. After this initial stage, the vaccine could be administered on a voluntary basis to firefighters, police and other emergency workers, and possibly the public at large.
