Article: Central band keeps up winning tradition

JOLIET -- Joliet Central High School band has kept up its winning streak, recently taking home top honors in a major state competition at Illinois State University. The band won first place in its class and the title of overall grand champion for the 14th time in nearly as many years at the State of Illinois Invitational High School Concert Band Contest about a week ago. Joliet West High School's band also placed well, winning first in Class 4A.

Central's victory was particularly sweet because it's the first under new band leader Michael Fiske.
