Dear Anne and Nan:
I would like to know the formula for cleaning silver. I've heard I can use a pan with aluminum foil on the bottom. -- Mrs. Rufus Josey, Dothan, Ala.
Dear Mrs. Josey -- Line the bottom of a nonaluminum container (a large Pyrex baking dish works best for us) with a large sheet of aluminum foil. Sprinkle 4 tablespoons of baking soda onto the foil, and place the tarnished silver in the container. Be sure the utensil comes in direct contact with the foil. Pour in 1 gallon of boiling water, wait about two minutes, and remove the silver with tongs. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth to remove loosened tarnish, then wash ...
