Major league baseball's newly created high strike zone is creating confusion among hitters as well as umpires.
Add Cubs Coach Jeff Pentland to the list of anguished victims.
Hitting coaches have always preached patience, but it may be time to strike that word from baseball's vocabulary.
Lack of consistency is the major problem.
"The strike zone is everywhere,'' Pentland said. "It's been very erratic.''
Montreal pitchers recorded 18 strikeouts in the first two games of the season-opening three-game series.
"A couple of calls yesterday (Wednesday) were very marginal,'' Pentland said.
