The sky looks clear for expansion plans at the Gary/Chicago Airport but management will need another $250,000 to keep it operating until the end of the year.
That was the word passed to the airport's board when it met Wednesday morning.
Airport Administrator Paul Karas gave board members copies of a letter from the Federal Aviation Administration, saying it appeared the expansion plans would win that agency's approval.
"We probably won't get official approval until later this month," Karas said.
