Dining rooms are back in vogue and I, for one, am happy about this state of affairs. Of course, we're doing a multitude of other things in this room, but, when it comes to special meals, the dining room is the one to which we gravitate.

My dining room is not large, but it looks out onto a wonderful terrace that was here when we moved in. We installed two pairs of French doors where two windows had been; these doors open out onto the terrace, where we added an awning of durable dark green canvas.
