I would rather ____ than have a root canal!
As a practicing dentist, I have often heard such a statement. I would rather have a baby than a root canal. I would rather have a tax audit than a root canal. Movies have had similar one-liners to suggest pain endurance. Just what is all this bother about?
Simply stated, root canal is the treatment of an infected (abscessed) tooth. When a tooth is infected, the infection is treated either by removing the source of infection (the tooth) or maintaining the tooth by root canal (endodontics).
