Article: Teen: Killing self-defense Claims abuse by older brother

A 17-year-old LaPorte County boy accused of killing his older brother is claiming self-defense following years of being molested by his sibling. Prosectors, though, say the killing cannot be overlooked and that the boy could have taken other action.

A hearing was held Thursday to argue if the Rolling Prairie boy should remain charged with voluntary manslaughter as a juvenile or whether to waive the case into adult court.

LaPorte Circuit Juvenile Court Magistrate Sally Ankony took the matter under advisement.

The boy is accused in the shooting death of his 22-year-old brother late on June 16 or early on June 17.
