The Dovellos brothers haven't decided just why they want the old Porter County Jail. But that didn't stop them from buying it.

The Lake County businessmen bid $320,000 in Wednesday's auction of the 35,000-square-foot building at 157 S. Franklin St.

William Dovellos of Highland said they may use the jail for offices, a restaurant, a private prison or apartments.

"We really haven't decided yet, but want to put in something that will be good for the downtown," said George Dovellos of Schererville.
