State Reps. Vernon Smith and Charlie Brown are scheduled to make their first court appearance Friday morning to face criminal charges arising from an incident in June.
Lake Superior Court Judge Thomas P. Stefaniak Jr. will preside over the hearing at 8:30 a.m., a court order states.
Stefaniak was recently named the judge in the case after Judge Sheila Moss recused herself.
Stefaniak and Judges Clarence Murray and Richard Maroc were selected by the county clerk, and the prosecutor and defense attorney each struck one from the list.
