Joy K. Perry was skeptical. Walgreens? What's a Walgreens, she remembers saying as she drove by the pharmacy chain's first store near her home. To get her father's diabetes medication, she always went to Eckerd. It was close to her dad's house and she knew where things were.

But then she noticed the new Walgreens was offering a $20 gift card to switch.

"It's just the little things that I've noticed are different here," she said. "Things are a little bit cheaper here, and the store is cleaner and bigger, and it's easier to get in and out of."
