The Portage Wal-Mart has named Tom Workman of Hobart High School its Teacher of the Year. The honor includes a $1,000 cash gift to the school in Workman's name.

The presentation was made recently at the school in a meeting that was kept secret from Workman, who is retiring at the end of a 34-year career at Hobart.
