In March, Jenny Furnish and husband Lee sent care packages out to the soldiers overseas. With the care items they also sent blank journals with hopes that soldiers would write back with their experiences. The day after Thanksgiving, they received a journal filled with stories from an entire battalion.
ELGIN -- Jenny Furnish sent three care packages to soldiers in Iraq in March, then never really thought about them again.
That was until the Friday after Thanksgiving, when one of the items she included in the packages was returned to her.
