"In my business I hear two complaints about fishing," says Bill Burrell. "One is that the sport is too boring, or in the case of fly fishing, it's too hard to do." To the 41 year-old Burrell, a former Chicago Board of Options trader turned fly fishing instructor and fishing show promoter, other analogies are there.

"I know people who golf and they have bad golf strokes, but it doesn't stop them from golfing," Burrell says. "But for some inexplicable reason, anglers think that if they can't cast a fly rod, they shouldn't try fly fishing at all."
