Article: Joliet area's turnaround an example

The other day, a reporter from Scranton, Pa., called the city desk with a few questions about Joliet. It seems Scranton, itself a former Rust Belt town, is looking for a rebound in its fortunes. And Joliet, the City of Champions, appears to be a prime example of a Rust Belt city that has turned things around. My first question to the reporter from Scranton was: "Are they getting riverboat casinos in Scranton?" No, but they may be getting slots, he replied.

Now, I am not a native of Joliet, but I have been at The Herald News about 17 years. During that time, the turnaround in Joliet's fortunes has been evident.
