Top Left: Residents in unincorporated areas of Downers Grove have been using bottled water for drinking and bathing since fall 2001. Although residents approached municipal, county and state government agencies that fall about relief from wells that may have been contaminated by nearby industrial plants, agreements weren't signed until nearly a year had passed, and residents are still not connected to safe water supplies.
Top Right: Workmen lay the foundation for the Downers Grove Park District's new recreation center on Belmont Avenue. The center is expected to open this spring after years of controversy and amid concerns about whether it will be financially successful.
