Naperville's Evan Lysacek competes at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Dallas last week. The Neuqua Valley senior finished seventh out of 19 skaters and earned a berth in the World Junior Championships next month in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Naperville resident Evan Lysacek has been working toward a breakthrough in the senior division at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships for two years. This year he got it. Lysacek, a senior at Neuqua Valley High School, finished seventh in a field of 19 skaters at the Dallas competition, improving upon a pair of 12th-place finishes in 2001 and 2002.
